REMOVAL OF DIRT: THE GELSON CYCLE FOR IMPECCABLE RESULTS

When finishing painted surfaces, the presence of small defects such as ‘speckles’ is one of the most common problems in bodywork: even the slightest imperfection can compromise the uniformity and brilliance of the final result, making restoration work necessary. Gelson offers a proven combination for removing dirt marks, capable of restoring the surface without altering the surrounding paint layer.

Start with the first sanding step, either by hand or with a sander.

If sanding by hand, use the following sheets in sequence: TOLECUT K1911523 (1500 grit), K1911522 (2000 grit), K1911521 (3000 grit abrasive). If using a sander, use K1921512 (2000 grit abrasive), K7301515 (2500 grit abrasive) and K7301514 (3000 grit abrasive) discs in sequence.

Once the sanding phase is complete, proceed with a rotary polisher, to be used with a merino wool disc or, alternatively, with a yellow honeycomb pad, both in combination with Thunder Cut rubbing compound, which is essential for restoring a shiny and uniform appearance to the paintwork. The honeycomb pad ensures good heat dispersion and a constant cut, reducing the risk of overheating the substrate.

The next step, for finishing transparent paints that are not completely dry, involves polishing with the yellow or green Gelson pad (both suitable for use with a rotary orbital polisher, to be used at this stage), again in combination with Thunder Cut compound.

Finally, remove any residue and clean the surface with Defender Cleaner, applying it with the red cloth and drying it with the orange cloth. For greater surface protection, we recommend applying a Gelson protective polish.

Why use the proposed cycle?

These steps will allow for more controlled processing, improving colour depth. The final application of the protective coating seals the work done and prolongs its durability, providing a barrier against atmospheric agents and micro-scratches.
