Autopromotec is a home for us at Gelson!

Our brand, in fact, has been present since the 1980s and this year too we will not miss the most important international meeting in the automotive field.

An appointment, this year, that we absolutely could not miss. A perfect opportunity to present all the innovations we have been working on over the last two years with the aim, not only of offering complete, advanced bodywork systems, but above all of actively participating in the progress of this sector.

Autopromotec and Gelson, a long-established partnership

In the 1980s, for the first time, our brand decided to broaden its horizons by participating in an event of national resonance. We could therefore not miss the 2022 edition, especially after these two years of ‘forced hiatus’.

For us, returning to the fair is certainly the manifestation of an essential need: face-to-face confrontation, the need for a real, live relationship that will never replace the virtual one. In this period we have, in fact, become aware of how important the emotional side of things – what you feel when you touch them – is in our work. You can’t really understand a product until you use it, that’s a fact, and Autopromotec was the ideal opportunity to invite visitors to discover Gelson’s new products and immerse themselves in the brand’s new mood.  In 2020, in fact, we worked on a total change of clothes starting with the message we wanted to convey to the public. We had a lot of opportunities to talk about it but very few opportunities to provide an immersive experience that would transport the user into the Gelson world. This was the objective of this year’s set-up, which led to the creation of a larger space to welcome visitors and a totally new concept that tells the Gelson story, the values underlying the brand and the design process that characterises this made in Italy production.

Direct relationship with customers

We at Gelson deeply believe in relationships and in the dialogical exchange between parties. It is only through interaction with our direct customers, retailers, and end users that it is possible to produce something that really makes sense, a product that responds to a real need, to a concrete necessity. The theme of ‘relationship’ was the keynote for the design of the stand and we interpreted it through the architectural element of the net that formed the basis for the rest of the structure. Gelson, in fact, is first and foremost a brand made up of people, a dialogic reality where exchange and collaboration act as the backbone and relationships as the foundation; it is only thanks to these, to the exchange of ideas and active listening that it is possible to give life to products that are qualitatively up to the expectations of the customer and the industry.

Today, the only constant is change, and in order not to undergo it, one must grasp its positive side: transformations are opportunities for growth if seized with timing and awareness. This has been our mantra over the last two years and the second theme underlying the exhibition in Bologna, which we have interpreted graphically through a moving, iridescent bundle of colours that, like a fluid, adapts to the container that houses it without changing its substance. Gelson is a company that has always invested in the sector’s novelties, methodically: we look at the national and international market with a critical eye, we assess the potential that novelty may have and if it really represents a step forward for us and for the development of the sector, we are the first to put our face to it. The aim is not only to offer complete, state-of-the-art systems, but to experiment in order to promote progress. The fear is always that of disappointing the expectations of a very demanding public, but it is a ‘good’ fear because it allows us to grow.

What's new from Gelson for Auropromotec 2022

Talking about ‘products’ to describe Gelson is reductive: the brand brings ‘integrated systems’ for the automotive market. When it comes to systems the most important thing is the compatibility of products, which is why we at Gelson have been collaborating for years with two important brands, KOVAX and FLEX, our travelling companions during the 2022 edition of Autopromotec. One side of the stand was tailor-made for these two internationally recognised partners, and the message we wanted to get across to the public was that the combination of Gelson chemicals, Kovax abrasives and Flex machines results in a complete range of products that are perfectly compatible with each other.

For KOVAX, we thought of a double showcase hosting the new ProMa-X Air 75D, a machine with an ergonomic and compact design with dust extraction for excellent results in a short time, combined with the Maxfilm multi-hole abrasive discs, Assilex and Buflex up to K3000 grit, all in a single kit. The FLEX showcase, on the other hand, featured a selection of automotive-specific tools, distinguishing between wire and cordless tools.

 

Of course, the Gelson novelties could not be missing!

This year we presented new polishing and sanding systems to complete an already opulent range:

  • – ALLY the trolley designed to intelligently furnish the polishing station, keeping it tidy, clean and facilitating the work of the bodyshop. The design focuses on optimising work times and the difference compared to similar competitive products lies in the details: the V-shaped hook for storing the machines has a greater depth than the standard ones and allows the polishers to be stored without detaching the pad; the trolley has four wheels with 360° movement and four brakes that facilitate movement even when the trolley is full and heavy; the sliding tray at the bottom gives the possibility to use the Flex machines without necessarily removing them from the case; the intermediate shelf can be fixed at different heights according to requirements.
  •  STANDUST, the workcenter designed for Flex vacuum cleaners, allows you to have everything you need immediately at hand, keeping your sanding corner tidy and clean at all times. The Gelson sanding stand is designed with attention to detail: the metal container divided into 10 compartments makes it possible to separate used and new discs, protecting them from dirt. The rubber profiles, covering the channels of the aluminium extrusion, protect the stand from dust and facilitate cleaning. The STANDUST is equipped with two hooks, one to keep wires and hoses tidy that often hinder movement, the other for supporting two machines. At the top, the workcenter is equipped with a shelf with a non-slip finish and a Velcro panel for storing interfaces, pads, dowels, etc.

The jewel of the exhibition was an expansion of the detailing section for the Gelson 2022 catalogue. Perfection, attention to detail, has always been the fixation of the bodyshop who, by definition, is an aesthete. But, if years ago achieving an impeccable polish was enough to keep one’s business at the top, today it is only the starting point. In fact, the market is increasingly focusing on ‘maniacal’ attention to detail thanks to new techniques that require great professionalism. The aim is to be able to eliminate even the smallest imperfections, immediately imperceptible to the untrained eye, and to protect your car for longer by making it easier to clean. From this reflection come the new Gelson NANOTEC & CAR CARE kits for exterior and interior car protection.

The NANOTEC kits contain nanometric products that guarantee protection from two to five years. This category includes:

  • KIT NANOTEC – RENEW: renewable nanoceramic protection guaranteed for up to five years. The kit contains three products: BASE COAT creates a base coat that increases the adherence of subsequent layers to the substrate, prolonging their life over time; BLUE NANO and RED NANO are applied over the base coat and are the same product, only the drying times change, so you choose to use one or the other depending on whether you are above or below 20°C; POP UP is a nanometric spray that allows you to renew the protection after a while and creates a protective layer that lasts about six months. This nanometric treatment kit improves the performance of the bodywork, protects it from weathering and minor scratches, facilitates cleaning and provides long-term, renewable protection.
  • KIT NANOTEC – LONG LASTING: contains only BLUE NANO and RED NANO, nanoceramic products for the car that guarantee two years’ protection. This product creates a long-lasting protective layer that improves bodywork performance, revives colours (deeper blacks), protects against weathering and minor scratches, and facilitates cleaning.
  • KIT NANOTEC – POP UP: this is a nanoceramic product that can be used as a temporary protective coating (six months) or as a renewal if the car has already been treated with one of the other NANOTEC KITS. It is a ceramic spray coating that is quick and easy to apply and provides protection to the paintwork and gives depth to the colour.   • KIT CAR CARE – PREPARING: this is a kit for preparing the substrate for nanometric protective treatment and contains the WASH OUT, which deeply cleanses, lifts and effectively removes traces of wax, dust and post-polishing residues, and the SET UP a concentrated product for preparing the substrate. The combination of these two products guarantees perfect adhesion of the protective layer and an impeccable final result.
  • KIT CAR CARE – INTERIOR CLEANING: contains the product DI180, a ready-to-use liquid for cleaning car interiors, fabrics, carpets and rugs. It quickly captures and removes dirt, bringing colours back to life.
  •  KIT CAR CARE – FOG FREE: FOG FREE is an anti-fog product for glass and plastic surfaces, a protection that prevents hot air and humidity from settling on the glass and limiting the driver’s visibility. It is used on glass, windscreens, windows and the results are guaranteed and long-lasting.
  • KIT CAR CARE – PLASTIC&METAL: contains METAPLAST, a multi-purpose protector that revitalises and protects plastic and metal surfaces inside the car and can also be applied to exterior plastics. The product forms a glossy, non-greasy, water-repellent and long-lasting protective layer.
  • KIT CAR CARE – TEXTILE&LEATHER: the kit contains two products, the SPARKLE SKIN renews the leather surface, protects it from dirt and moisture and gives it a glossy, shiny appearance by reviving its colour; the NATURAL SKIN is a water-repellent product for textiles and leathers that protects against dirt, facilitating subsequent cleaning and improves the resistance of the fabric (also suitable for synthetic fabrics) while preserving its natural, original appearance.

A large part of the Gelson team was present to welcome and present all this news to the public, ready to welcome visitors and convey to them, with an enthusiasm that distinguishes us, our way of being and our qualities. In short, we can say that the objective was to show, even to those who do not yet know us, what our customers know very well, namely that we have always continued to work with tenacity and commitment, alongside and in support of those who believe in our brand and use our products… and we intend to continue to do so!
